Congratulations to Dr. Hongyan Wang who has recently won financial support with a value of 100,000 RMB from Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation of the Education Ministry of China. This funding will support her research project entitled ‘The effect of language familiarity on identification of speakers’.

This project is chaired by Dr. Hongyan Wang, who will investigate the question with Dr. Yi Liu and Dr. Yinglin Ji, two research fellows of the Centre. The research aims to examine the identification of the speaker in a cross-linguistic environment, focusing particularly on how the language a speaker uses (native language or a second language) influences her identification on the part of the hearer.
