Prof. Ji Yinglin was invited to The International Symposium on Psycholinguistics of Second Language Acquisition and Bilingualism held in Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 18-19 December 2015, and gave a keynote speech on “Expressing motion events in a second language: Chinese/English bilingual learners”. The speech was well received by the audience.

The symposium was organized by the Department of English, Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages, Childhood Bilingualism Research Centre, and Chinese University of Hong Kong-Peking University-University System of Taiwan Joint Research Centre of Language and Human Complexity in CUHK. 150 researchers from US, Europe, mainland China and Hong Kong attended the symposium to exchange and discuss research findings of second language acquisition and bilingualism from the perspective of psycholinguistics.

World-renowned scholars, including Prof. Brian MacWhinney from Carnegie Mellon University in the US, Prof. Jason Zevin from South California University in the US, Prof. Stephen Matthews from the University of Hong Kong, Prof. Yasuhiro Shirai from Case Western Reserve University in the US, and Prof. Dong Yanping from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, gave keynote speeches. The discussion covers child early bilingual development and adult second/foreign language acquisition, with special focuses on language emergence, linguistic and cognitive development, bilingual education, individual variation, classroom language instruction and technically supported language learning.
