Abstract:
Transparent oxide semiconductors (TOSs) are a group of materials that exhibit both electrical conduction and optical transparency. Traditional applications of these materials are transparent conductive oxides as “passive” electrodes in flat-panel displays, organic light-emitting diodes, solar cells, and optical imagers. Recently, significant research has been driven by the state-of-the-art “active” device applications such as thin-film transistors (TFTs). This talk begins with an overview of material fundamentals and follows the development of TOSs by a novel fabrication technique. Subsequently, photodiodes and TFTs formed by semiconducting zinc oxide and indium oxide will be presented, along with analysis of device characteristics, stability, and dynamics.
